“I can thank you for how strong I have become.”
This song makes me cry. Kesha totally gets it.
THAT is the goal, right? That’s where we really want to get to – the ability to look back at a relationship — any relationship — and be grateful for the lessons, grateful for how much strength it has given us. We get stronger with every disappointment, every “bad” date (you know there are no bad dates, just teachers), and every break-up. Miracles happen when we get to the point where we see the good, not “in spite of” the dissolved relationship, but BECAUSE of it. Where you can actually pray for the person you used to be with.
My “Let It Go” exercise will help you that if you’re having a hard time ad hanging on to resentments I know it’s hard. It takes time. But this exercise saved my sanity and helped me move forward with gratitude for everything I had been through.
City lights looking like ice underneath the stars
Beautiful, but I’d rather be right here where we are
Go and tell your friends, we’re running late again
What you think? Pour another drink and call off the car
I could spend a thousand nights right here inside this room
Swear the only one I want is you
And it doesn’t matter what we do
We could have nothing at all
And it’d still feel like nothing’s missing
Now we’re moving like we’re on the moon
Dom Pérignon drip on our shoes
We could fly around the world
But we always end up
Dancing in the kitchen
Dancing in the kitchen
I don’t mind if this whole town goes up in flames
As long as I got you with me, I’ma be okay
Slide across the floor, I’m forever yours, yeah
What you think? Pour another drink, put it on repeat
I could spend a thousand nights right here inside this room
Swear the only one I want is you
And it doesn’t matter what we do
We could have nothing at all
And it’d still feel like nothing’s missing
Now we’re moving like we’re on the moon
Dom Pérignon drip on our shoes
We could fly around the world
But we always end up
Dancing in the kitchen
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
I could spend a thousand nights right here inside this room
Tell me, baby, if you feel the same way that I do
Swear the only one I want is you
And it doesn’t matter what we do
We could have nothing at all
And it’d still feel like nothing’s missing
Now we’re moving like we’re on the moon
Dom Pérignon drip on our shoes
We could fly around the world
But we always end up
Dancing in the kitchen
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
Dancing in the kitchen (dancing in the kitchen)
